Taproot advisory

You got into this work because you wanted to lead well. And you do — by most measures.

But you can feel what it's costing people. The performance required. The humanity quietly asked to wait outside. The gap between what your organization says it values and what it actually asks of the people inside it day after day.

You've been carrying that gap largely alone. Because the questions it raises — about culture, about systems, about what you're actually building and who it's for — aren't ones you can fully bring to the people you lead. Or to most of your peers.

You want to lead differently. From a genuinely human lens. And you're ready for a thought partner who doesn't need you to justify that.

Imagine an organization where people don't leave their humanity at the door. Where the culture you've always intended is the culture people actually experience. Where you lead from a place that feels true — and where that truth creates conditions for your people to do the same.

That's not naive. That's what becomes possible when you start reading your organization the way an ecologist reads a forest — beneath the visible, at the root.

What the work looks like

Each session begins with a short practice to help you get present and tune in before we begin. From there we work with what's most alive for you and your organization — naming what you're seeing, examining what's beneath it, and developing a clearer understanding of what your culture is actually asking of people and why.

Sessions draw on somatic awareness, ecological framing, and systems thinking — not as abstract concepts but as practical lenses for seeing what analytic frameworks alone miss. We also draw on the natural world during sessions, using nature's imagery and cycles to illuminate what's happening in your organization. Sometimes the right metaphor makes visible what data alone cannot.

Between sessions you'll be invited to take land-based practices outside — sitting with a particular place, noticing what it reflects back, letting something slower and older inform how you lead. These aren't exercises. They're a different kind of input.

You bring the questions you can't ask anyone else. I bring 25 years inside these structures, a somatic and systems lens, and no investment in telling you what you want to hear.

Six months is the minimum — systems-level change takes time, and the growth often happens underground before it's visible anywhere else.

The right advisory relationship starts with an honest conversation.

Taproot is a significant commitment — in time, investment, and the willingness to look clearly at what your organization is producing. A 15-minute conversation is where we both get a sense of whether this is the right fit before either of us goes further.
